The earthquake struck at 10:42 AM local time, with the tremors causing buildings to collapse and roads to crack open. In Myanmar, the damage has been catastrophic, particularly in Mandalay and surrounding towns, where entire neighborhoods have been destroyed. Emergency teams have been working non-stop to rescue those trapped under the rubble, but the number of casualties is expected to rise as more areas are searched.

Bangkok, located hundreds of miles away, also felt the impact of the quake, with residents reporting that high-rise buildings swayed and office workers rushed to evacuate. Though Thailand has not experienced the level of destruction seen in Myanmar, the tremors were a stark reminder of the region’s seismic vulnerability.

International relief efforts are already underway, with neighboring countries offering support and organizations like the UN and Red Cross preparing to send aid. Myanmar’s government, already under pressure due to ongoing political challenges, is focusing its resources on managing the crisis and ensuring that rescue efforts continue.
