The investigation into the alleged rape and murder of a teenage girl in Delhi has involved CCTV surveillance, vehicle tracing, questioning and forensic examination after her decomposed body was found in an open field.

Investigators initially faced difficulties identifying the deceased. Police said the condition of the remains was such that the victim’s gender could not immediately be determined. The body was later identified as belonging to a teenage girl.
Police said the medical examination confirmed rape and investigators reported multiple stab wounds. The authorities suspect the teenager was killed before her body was abandoned in the field.
According to the police investigation, the victim knew the suspects and had travelled with them in a tempo. Investigators are reconstructing her movements to establish what happened before the alleged assault and killing.
The absence of an apparent eyewitness meant that technical evidence became important. Police examined more than 50 CCTV cameras across the area and adjoining routes.
A tempo appeared in the footage around the relevant time. Although the registration number was initially difficult to read because of darkness, investigators followed the vehicle across multiple cameras.
The vehicle was eventually located in Khadda Colony. Police questioned the driver and said the questioning helped them identify other people allegedly connected with the case.
Four suspects were subsequently apprehended, including three juveniles. Police identified the adult suspect as Shivam alias Sudama alias Chuchu. The juveniles were reported to be aged 16 and 17.
Investigators said two knives allegedly associated with the killing were recovered. Police also recovered clothing allegedly worn by the suspects and the tempo believed to have been used during the relevant events.
The family’s account has also formed part of the investigation. Police said the girl had not been reported missing because her family stated that she sometimes left home and returned after a few days.
A case has been registered under relevant provisions of the BNS and POCSO Act. Investigators are now combining physical evidence, CCTV footage, statements and forensic findings to reconstruct the circumstances of the crime.
The involvement of three juveniles adds another legal dimension to the case. Their alleged roles will be examined under the laws governing juveniles accused of offences.
Police are also investigating whether anyone else was involved. The recovered weapons, clothing and vehicle will be subjected to forensic examination, while investigators continue to verify the statements of those in custody.
The case remains under investigation, and the allegations against the accused have not yet been established by a court. Further evidence and legal proceedings will determine the responsibility of the individuals apprehended in connection with the teenager’s death.
