Shahzad was found hiding in a burrow near a river, approximately 100 meters inside Indian territory, by an area domination patrol party. Upon his arrest, security officials recovered ₹1,800 in Pakistani currency, an identity card, and two mobile SIM cards from him.

During preliminary questioning, Shahzad claimed that he had inadvertently crossed the LoC. However, authorities are treating the incident with caution, given the sensitive nature of the region and the ongoing security concerns.

The arrest highlights the challenges faced by security forces in maintaining vigilance along the LoC, a region that has been a flashpoint for tensions between India and Pakistan. Both countries have accused each other of supporting cross-border terrorism, leading to a series of retaliatory measures and military skirmishes along the border.

The international community has expressed concern over the escalating tensions and has urged both nations to engage in dialogue to resolve their differences peacefully.
