The summit brings together India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Thailand, Bhutan, and Nepal, nations that are united in their shared vision of a prosperous and secure Bay of Bengal region. As one of the founding members of BIMSTEC, India plays an integral role in shaping the organization’s future and advancing its goals of economic cooperation, regional integration, and stability.

PM Modi will meet with various heads of state to discuss ways to deepen bilateral and multilateral ties. His discussions with Thai leaders, for example, are expected to focus on strengthening India-Thailand relations, particularly in the fields of trade, connectivity, and people-to-people exchanges.

The Prime Minister’s visit will also provide an opportunity to discuss broader regional issues, including the role of BIMSTEC in addressing challenges like terrorism, climate change, and the need for greater economic connectivity. India’s strategic priorities in the region, including infrastructure development, energy cooperation, and maritime security, are likely to be central to the discussions.

Through this summit, PM Modi aims to reaffirm India’s commitment to fostering closer regional cooperation and tackling shared challenges for the benefit of all BIMSTEC nations.
