As more people look to staycations for a post-pandemic trip, Airbnb has compiled a list of the most popular castle accommodation in the UK.

It’s expected that the upcoming Bank Holiday weekend for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee will lead to a huge increase in demand for these properties that are fit for royalty.

Among the most popular castles available for rent on Airbnb are The Tower Thornton Castle in Aberdeenshire, Craster Tower in Alnwick, Yannon Towers in Teignmouth, and Kinnettles Mansion in Fife.

The Scottish county of Fife is also home to Dairsie Castle with site host Etsuko, saying: “As an Airbnb Host, it’s fantastic to see guests exploring the castle.

She added: “The listing is situated in the perfect spot for exploring nearby St. Andrews and the surrounding countryside, and we’ve found guests coming back again and again.”

Guests staying at Dairsie Castle can explore the property’s six acres of grounds including a woodland walk down to the river Eden, an orchard, watch tower and an indoor toy room filled with board games and books to keep everyone entertained.

Other awe-inspiring castles include Cornwall’s The Country Castle which offers unbeatable views of nearby River Tamar.

The Country Castle can sleep up to 22 guests across 11 individually styled bedrooms.

For smaller groups, the romantic medieval ‘mini castle’ Barns Tower in Peebles, Scotland, offers accommodation for up to four guests.

The Tower is described as being “ancient with open fires and fairly steep stairs” but having “all the luxuries of the 21st century.”
