DEAR DEIDRE: THE day the police raided our home my life was turned upside down.
They were looking for my brother after he was caught with child abuse images on his computer. He’s 27.
I’m a guy of 22 and I was looking forward to some time with my family after finishing my college course – but everything has changed.
My mother cries constantly. My brother is a bundle of nerves awaiting his trial, which may not be for months.
He has never had a girlfriend and I thought he was gay.
But he has blamed all of this on my older cousin, who is 34.

My brother has accused my cousin of abusing him when he was 10.
I don’t know how I can help my brother or my mother.
DEIDRE SAYS: If he has been abused as a child, my support pack will show him where to find help.
There’s also an organisation called StopSo (https://stopso.org.uk), which helps perpetrators of abuse to change. They are unfunded so the charges are between £40 and £100 for therapy.
Your mother can find free support through Family Lives (familylives.org.uk, 0808 800 2222).
You can help by offering a listening ear and being there for both.
