BROKEN sleep, busy schedules and demanding kids mean the average parent has sex half as often as they did before having children.

And a fifth can’t even remember the last time they were intimate, according to a survey by Moonpig.

Katie Meaghan, 33, and fiancé Ade Goldsmith, 40, now have sex once a month

At the other end of the spectrum celeb mum-of-four Tanya Bardsley, a TV regular on Real Housewives Of Cheshire, has sex with her Premier League footballer hubby, Burnley’s Phil Bardsley, every day . . . to stop him straying.

Here, four sets of parents reveal to Claire Dunwell and Alley Einstein how often they find time to get intimate with each other.

‘I GUESS I’LL HAVE TO BE PATIENT’

KATIE Meaghan, 33, and fiancé Ade Goldsmith, 40, an IT engineer, live in Bristol with daughter Calypso, two, and Katie’s sons Loki, ten, and Indi, four. The couple now have sex once a month and stay-at-home mum Katie says:

“When we got together at a festival three years ago, we had sex three times a week.

I've never been interested in sex - not even with my girlfriend
I made a sex rota for me and my NINE wives – it’s exhausting

“But now, with three kids — and Calypso in our room — getting time alone is tricky.

“Ideally, Ade would have sex every day but I would be happy with twice a week.

“More sex would be a release. I fancy Ade like mad.”

Ade says: “It’s difficult, we don’t get time to ourselves at all, really. I guess I just have to be patient.”

“I breastfed and it was easier for him to sleep in our bed. John would end up on the sofa.

“We couldn’t be spontaneous and John would come home exhausted from work or I’d be sleep deprived. We’re lucky to fit in sex every couple of weeks, usually in the morning after the kids have gone to school.

“We’d prefer to have sex daily. Hopefully we’ll get it back once the kids are older.”

John says: “We try to remain close by cuddling and taking advantage of a spare 30 minutes to keep the spark alive.”

‘I WON’T RUN THE RISK HE WILL CHEAT’

“Despite waiting three weeks to have sex after Jassy was born, things quickly got back to normal. Even while I was pregnant we had sex three or four times a week.

“Jassy usually sleeps through the night so we aren’t too tired. And we still have a weekly date night when a friend will babysit.

“Some mums’ sole focus is the baby — so their partners feels left out. If you don’t work on your relationship when the kids come along, you run the risk of your partner cheating.”

Meiri says: “Katie always looks amazing. For a relationship to last you have to make an effort — that includes intimacy.”

‘NOW JUST ON SPECIAL OCCASIONS’

“We’re lucky if we do it four or five times a year. When we met 16 years ago we had sex up to three times a day.

“When Grace arrived we got a massive shock. Grace wasn’t an easy baby — she cried a lot and she was clingy. I found breastfeeding a struggle and battled postnatal depression.

“I focused on Grace, and Chris worked overtime as a doorman. When we saw each other, we were so tired and sex was the last thing on our minds.

“Nowadays, it’s just on special occasions.

“Parents who say they have sex daily are exaggerating.”

Chris says: “Our priorities are the kids. Often it’s a kiss or a compliment that shows the true depth of love. It’s about more than how often you have sex.”
