Arsenal blow as ‘Milan open contract talks with £70m-rated Rafael Leao’

AC MILAN have opened contract talks with rumoured Arsenal target Rafael Leao, according to reports.

The Portuguese wide man has attracted interested from the Gunners, among others, with his impressive displays in Serie A this season.

Leao’s current contract will have two years remaining come the summer, with Milan eager to extend.

According to Italian reporter Antonio Vitiello, the 21-year-old’s agents have already received an “important” offer from another club for their client.

He adds that Milan have offered Leao around £70,000-a-week to stay – but he wants more.

Should they fail to agree on a new contract, Milan could potentially let their young attacker go this summer.

However, they would likely demand a fee between £60million and £70m for his services.

Leao’s former club Lille will be owed a portion of whatever fee Milan receive.

He is believed to be happy at San Siro, and open to penning a new deal.

Leao joined Milan as a teenager back in 2019, steadily growing in confidence and form.

He has scored 12 goals from the flank this season in 38 appearances – while also laying on seven assists.

One of his efforts came against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League – while he also set one up for Ante Rebic during Milan’s 3-2 defeat at Liverpool in September.

Leao and Co are currently sitting two points clear of rivals Inter at the top of Serie A, with four games remaining in a hotly-contested title race.
